The genus Adelogorgia is distinguished from other holaxonians in having conspicuously ornamented double-disc sclerites and leaf clubs in the coenenchyme, and non-mineralised axis two eastern Pacific species currently recognised as Adelogorgia are diagnosed and new species for the genus are described from new localities and depth ranges. Three new species for the genus are described from new localities and depth ranges. Analysis of external and internal characters, especially sclerite colours and sizes, and colony colour, shape and branching, allows separating the species. An identification key to the five species is provided, as well as a character table for comparisons. Coral definition is - the calcareous or horny skeletal deposit produced by anthozoan or rarely hydrozoan polyps; especially: a richly red precious coral secreted by a gorgonian (genus Corallium). How to use coral in a sentence.   (Rather interestingly, a parallel species in the genus Paracheilinus shared the same fate as Cirrhilabrus eilinus piscilineatus was also described by Cornic in the same publication, with only six lines to its description and erroneously named as Cirrhilabrus l finally amended all mistakes and redescribed Cirrhilabrus sanguineus in

The microbiota is the community of microorganisms that colonizes the oral cavity, respiratory tract, and gut of multicellular organisms.

The microbiota exerts manifold physiological and pathological impacts on the organism it inhabits. A growing body of attention is being paid to host–microbiota interplay, which is highly relevant to the development of carcinogenesis.

There is a large body of literature pertaining to Hydra, and the scientific use of these organisms has undoubtedly advanced several aspects of research entire volume of the International Journal of Developmental Biology was dedicated to research and advancements using Hydra (volume.

Description What do Isaurus Corals look like: All the species in the Isaurus genus have similar appearances and needs. Snake Polyps have soft bodies covered with a leathery skin, called the cuticle, which gives them protection. They can be a single polyp or polyps connected with stolons.

The recent taxonomic history of extant free-living Cycloseris species is briefly reviewed, resulting in the description of Cycloseris boschmai sp. (Scleractinia, Fungiidae) and a discussion on the validity of two other recently described species. Some Cycloseris species were previously considered to belong to the Fungia patella group, which also concerned misidentified museum specimens that.

Description What do Symphyllia Corals look like: The Symphyllia genus can grow in colonies that can be flat or dome shaped, with wide valleys that meander in curves and twists throughout the coral. At times, the valley can be so spacious on a new, single polyp, that it can look like a completely different species.

Zoanthids (order Zoantharia also called Zoanthidea or Zoanthiniaria) are an order of cnidarians commonly found in coral reefs, the deep sea and many other marine environments around the animals come in a variety of different colonizing formations and in numerous colors.

They can be found as individual polyps, attached by a fleshy stolon or a mat that can be created from small. Slab of Fossiliferous Limestone. They agree, moreover, with Philippi's description, omitting the word " not " before retractile, when describing the polyp, so that Dr.

Causing the polyps to retract reveals separate or nearly separate 1 cm diameter calyces on stalks up to 3 cm long with no tissue on their bases.
